About the Artist

Potter and Painter

Rosalie has been an artist for over 40 years getting her formal education at a University in California, with Cum Laude honors in illustration. She worked for many years creating commission paintings on canvas doing portraits and wildlife and landscape paintings, her work being exhibited in several art galleries. She has worked for the Movie Studios (NCIS), and other commercial venues creating large murals, as well as working in private homes. She has taught both private school and individual art classes.

During the lockdown from COVID, she was able to learn the craft of pottery and work with her very skilled daughter Hailey Rose Ceramics, then continued her education at Cassi's Studio in Southern California under private instruction.  She has so enjoyed working with the clay process that she has taken up pottery as her main artform. What sets Rosalie apart from other ceramicists is that she takes the time to hand-paint each piece with underglazes. In her Custom Pieces she recreates a memory or story on fired clay for her clients who supply her with photos.

Her painting technique is achieved by layering underglazes at least three times, until the desired colors come through. The key to her successful paintings include simplicity in composition, vibrant colors, capturing her subject’s emotion, which expresses itself to the viewer. The artist’s love for God’s word, for nature and her experiences in traveling are her inspirations.
